Home and Away is back on our screens next week, but while the show has been off-air, the popular soap’s Instagram account has kept us well acquainted with some of our favourite stars, in their new series ‘A Touch of Salt with Emily Weir’. In the Instagram series, Emily, who plays Mackenzie Booth, sits down with her cast mates and asks them a series of fun questions so fans can get to know the person behind the characters better.

For episode two, Emily interviewed Kyle Shilling who plays Mali Hudson. The cheeky pair had a lot of laughs in the interview, covering the most important things first — namely how Mali would dance on a dancefloor compared to Kyle, with Kyle showing off some moves that had Emily exclaiming, “That was better than Raygun!”

With Mali and Mac being housemates on Home and Away, it’s safe to say Emily and Kyle have starred in quite a few scenes together, with Emily asking Kyle what he thinks would annoy Mali most about living with Mac.

“I think it’s always being told to stay out of their house when there is….” Kyle said before giving a giant wink to the camera. “[Redacted] happening.”

“It’s just a lot of intimacy,” he continued, about Mac’s torrid love affair with Levi. “And it’s like, Mali get out.”

Kyle also opened up about what he’s learned since joining Home and Away in 2023.

“Well before working here, I was a slow learner. I couldn’t maintain things in my head as well. I think working at such a fast pace here, I realised that a bit more,” Kyle said. “Being here, training certain parts of my brain, I can look at it now and go ‘oh okay, sweet that’s what I’m doing’.”

Emily said she felt the same about learning lines and learning scenes, saying there was a part of her brain that grew from the repetitive nature of the scenes on the soap.
