Shocking: Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Erika Girardi’s secret son officially announced his marriage but didn’t even invite his mother
There aren’t too many photos of Erika’s son that she’s released, but she has shared some photos of Tommy over the years, including childhood snapshots with her son, with whom she shares with her ex-husband, Thomas Zizzo.
Erika has revealed insight into how she navigated being a young mom (she was only 20 when she had Tommy with her ex-husband) and revealed the family member she’s leaned on over the years. “I did the best I could with what I had, and thank god we’re super close. I had a lot of help,” she told Teddi Mellencamp Arroyave on her podcast earlier this year. “My first husband had his mother who was very involved so my son had his grandmother on his side. There was my mother and my grandmother was alive at the time, so my child had many hands on him, and I was there too.”
In addition to spilling details on their family life, Erika has shared that when Tommy was a kid, she made traveling together a priority. “I took this picture on New Years’s Day in Tanzania years ago. This trip was one of our favorites,” she wrote. “Travel with your children, show them the world.”
In a throwback interview with The Daily Dish, Erika revealed her philosophy as a parent: “There wasn’t a lot of free[dom]. I believe in rules and I believe in, you know, constantly having those followed.”
How old is Erika’s son Tommy?
As of 2024, Tommy is 32 and, yes, they remain close. “I see him three times a week, he’s at my house, everything is great,” she shared with Teddi during that 2024 podcast appearance.
When speaking to The Daily Dish in 2022, she also shared that she does reach out to her son, Tommy, for advice if she needs it now that he’s all grown up. “My son’s been amazing. I will say this: The silver lining to all of this sh-t is that our relationship is stronger. My son and I, we’ve really come together. And so asking him what he thinks about things, you know, you get this adult perspective,” she said. “And it’s really nice.”
