The 32-year old shared her truth on Instagram.
After drawing much ire and controversy to herself in the last year, 32-year old actor Sam Frost has finally shared on Instagram what made her resign from her five-year gig playing Jasmine Delaney on Home & Away.
While it was rumoured the unvaccinated Frost parted ways due to her stance on the jab, her new post reveals a more emotional reason for the split.
“I quit my dream job at Home & Away to look after my mental health. I needed to take a step back, go home and be with my family,” she writes. “And most importantly take good care of my health and well-being. I now spend the days with the people I love, doing the things I’ve always wanted to do but couldn’t because I was too busy working.”

The decision came after her realisation that she spent four-and-a-half years being a ‘distant friend, a distant girlfriend, a sister who couldn’t be there for big milestone moments’.
It appears that missing out took a massive toll on Frost, who says she is now ‘making up for lost time’.
“I’m prioritising my health and my relationships,” she wrote.
However, it isn’t just her inability to spend time friendships and family that was taxing her mental health. She also referred to feeling a sense of ‘panic’ about the day-to-day.
“Sometimes I wake up and panic about money, work and being able to afford my mortgage,” she shared candidly. “…but then I remind myself the importance of putting our mental health first, and taking time out to heal our mind, body & soul. The rest will fall into place.”
The short summary of her experience was posted alongside a well-known Twitter post about recent Australian Open winner Ash Barty.
It reads: “Ash Barty spent more than 12 months out of the game for the sake of her mental health. Every time she wins a grand slam it should be a big flashing neon light reminder to all of us that taking care of yourself doesn’t mean losing your dreams – it only makes you stronger.”
It would suggest that while Frost has resigned her position in Home & Away she does not intend for this hiatus to be indefinite.
“We support and respect Sam’s decision to leave Home and Away,” a spokesperson told 7News. “Sam leaves with our sincere thanks and very best wishes for the future.”
According to news.com.au, Frost filmed her final scenes for the show back in December after opening up about her stance on the Covid-19 vaccine in October.
She had posted a video online asking for ‘compassion’ and ‘empathy’ for those who have decided against getting vaccinated.
“There’s a lot of harsh judgement and opinions being thrown around a lot and it’s taking its toll on my mental health, for sure, and I know people around me are struggling – particularly if they’re on the side that they don’t want to get vaccinated, for whatever reason,” she said.
“I’m struggling a lot with my mental health and I like to think that I’m pretty on to it. I see a psychologist regularly. So I can’t imagine what it’s like for those people who don’t have a support network around them,” she said.
While she was quite emotional in the video, her use of the word ‘segregation’ in the same message resulted in a significant level of backlash online. In fact, she shut down her social accounts for a short time following the post. She has since said she is getting the jab, but will not be fully vaccinated until this month.
She is also soon to launch a self-help book about mental health called Believe by Sam Frost in March.
