Bruce Murray death: Home and Away veteran dies after cancer battle
Home and Away stars have poured out heartfelt tributes for their coworker who died after his long battle with cancer.
The show organised a GoFundMe on behalf of crew member Bruce Murray in 2023, revealing he had been diagnosed with stage four oesophageal cancer that had spread to his bloodstream and formed numerous cancers on his bones.
Mr Murray — who had been in the TV and film industry for more than 20 years — started radiation therapy on his spine, ribs and hips before beginning chemotherapy and immunotherapy.
Queensland-born actress Emily Weir, or Mackenzie Booth on the show, posted a video of Mr Murray on her Instagram story on Sunday.
“Love you Brucey, you beautiful thing,” she wrote.
Former Home and Away star Sarah Roberts — who played Willow Harris — shared throwback snaps of the smiling technician.
“What a man! Never a dull moment on the set or on the dance floor,” the Melbourne-born actress wrote.
“One of the reasons I loved going to work. . . couldn’t stop giggling at his jokes and his dance moves. I’ll miss you Brucey!”
The GoFundMe raised $51,622 from 272 donations for the beloved TV veteran who worked as a key grip across Channel 7 and Channel 10.
