Former Home and Away child star in court
The former child star compared his situation to that of pop star Britney Spears, telling a court he was ‘controlled’ by his mother.

Former Home and Away child star Felix Dean has been accused of assault.
The 27-year-old appeared at Downing Centre Local Court in Sydney on Friday via video link where he represented himself.
He pleaded not guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm and sought to be released on bail, The Daily Telegraph reported.
Dean rose to fame when he was just 10 years old in the role of VJ – the on-screen son of Home and Away stalwart Ada Nicodemou.
Dean told the court he had been the victim of “coercive control and abuse” by his mother and compared his situation to that of pop star Britney Spears.

In court documents, police alleged Dean assaulted a man between 10.15am and 10.30am on August 1 in Botany, in Sydney’s inner south. He was arrested that day.
When applying for bail, Dean claimed he had suffered “extreme coercive control and abuse” from his mother.
He proposed to report to a police station daily, and take part in any drug or alcohol testing, as part of his bail conditions.
Dean compared his situation to Britney Spears’ conservatorship with her father during the hearding.
Magistrate Miranda Moody ultimately denied bail.
Dean will return to court in September.
