Home and Away star Shane Withington’s daughter reveals terrifying heartbreaking stories about her father
A Home and Away star is keeping it in the family as his daughter prepares to make her TV debut on the show.
Madeleine Withington, daughter of Summer Bay staple Shane Withington who plays John Palmer, will make a guest appearance in the soapie, filmed partly at Palm Beach, on Tuesday.
She plays a character called Monica who goes on a date with Chris, played by hunky Johnny Ruffo.

Shane Withington as been in Summer Bay for seven years.
And Madeleine, 24, who grew up with her actor parents at Church Point but now lives in the city, said she tried to go incognito when she arrived on set – but was given away by the family’s trademark curls.
“I was trying to play it really cool, and of course as soon as I went in everyone looked at the hair and went; “you’re Shane’s daughter aren’t you?” she said.
“Dad wasn’t there on the days I was shooting which was sort of good and sort of disappointing as we always have so much fun together.”
Home and Away actor Shane Withington’s daughter Madeleine has joined the soapie, for one episode only.
Ms Whithington decided she wanted to follow her parents into showbiz when she was just 11 – her mum is Anne Tenney, best know for A Country Practice and The Castle.
Madeleine finished acting school last year, and Home and Away is her first TV role
However, Shane reminded his daughter that he wasn’t too happy at first.
“I remember the day you came to me and said ‘dad ‘I’ve decided I wanna be an actor and I burst into tears. It’s a great life but it’s also a very hard run,” he said.
Anne Tenney, Madeleine’s mother starred in cult classic film The Castle.
Now he couldn’t be prouder, especially when she impressed the critics in The School for Scandal at the New Theatre in Newtown earlier this year.
“She got a stand out review and I texted and said that’s fantastic,” he said. “I’ve never seen a rave review with the word Withington in it before.
“Maddy’s run her own career, we have no involvement. She’s on her own. I didn’t want to be the stage dad,” he said.
