Porsha Williams says she is looking toward the future amid her estranged husband Simon Guobadia’s detainment.

Shortly after news broke that the Nigerian native was taken into custody by ICE, the Real Housewives of Atlanta star took to social media to share her perspective on the situation.

“It’s disheartening to see my estranged husband make choices that have led to this outcome,” Porsha wrote on her Instagram Stories Feb. 21. “At this moment my priority is moving forward with my family.”

Simon’s detainment comes amid President Donald Trump’s mass deportation plan, which he signed into effect earlier this year after beginning his second term. And according to U.S. Department of Homeland Security records obtained by People, he is currently being held at Stewart Detention Center in Lumpkin, Georgia.

E! News has reached out to Porsha, Simon and ICE for comment but hasn’t heard back.

But it was just last year that the businessman—who came to the United States in 1982 and was declared deportable in 1985 after overstaying his visa, per Atlanta’s WSB-TV 2—was celebrating over four decades residing in the country.

“Happy Tuesday to all who ever overcame and persevered in life,” Simon captioned a February 2024 Instagram post. “You are winning. #42yearsLivinginAmerica.”

Throughout the years, however, the 60-year-old has been arrested multiple times and pleaded guilty to bank and credit card fraud in 1987, per the Atlanta outlet, which also reported that he was arrested two more times in the following years as well as deported and physically removed from the country in 1992.

Less than a month after his removal, he was granted permanent residency status under an undisclosed identity, according to a federal filing obtained by WSB-TV 2, and has since made several unsuccessful attempts to become a naturalized citizen.

More recently, Simon became involved in an ongoing legal entanglement with his estranged wife—who filed for divorce last February following 15 months of marriage—when he sued her over comments she made on social media about erectile dysfunction.

In the November 2022 filing, Simon alleged that Porsha made “false and defamatory” comments about his genitalia in a series of Instagram posts.

Though she didn’t name any names, the Bravolebrity reposted several posts to her Instagram Stories four months prior that provided information on how to “help with erectile dysfunction.”

While she refrained from adding any other comment, she added a simple “#menshealthawareness” over each of the posts.

And in response to the lawsuit, Porsha’s lawyer expressed that there was no evidence that the posts were about Simon.

“This case is centered around social media posts posted by [Porsha], that discuss the topic of erectile dysfunction,”  a January motion obtained by In Touch read. “Although [Simon] alludes to multiple media outlets that sought to connect the posts to [Simon], [Porsha] cannot be held liable for wild speculation by these platforms coupled with the complete absence of factual or legal basis that could plausibly support any of [Simon’s] claims.”
