“Real Housewives of New York City” alum Eboni K. Williams is opening up about her decision to have her first child without a partner.
During a December 2024 interview with Scary Mommy, Williams spoke about welcoming her first child Liberty Alexandria Williams in August 2024. She said she decided to freeze her eggs when she was in her mid-30s, despite not intending to become a parent.
“I was never one of those girls or women who always had a motherhood fantasy…I [froze my eggs] as a flex. This was not very different for me than buying a Birkin bag. It was a power move,” said the 41-year-old during the interview.
In addition, she explained why she opted to get pregnant via a sperm donor. Williams shared that she was inspired to do so after she came across the social media group, Single Mothers by Choice. According to Williams, intentionally being a single mother had not previously occurred to her.
“I know me well, and I don’t like group projects. I enjoy the responsibility and the freedom of being the executive decision maker. I kind of need to have full authority and move how I see best,” said Williams to the publication.
In addition, she said, “Part of my intention with everything I do, but especially this part of my life and this journey, is to challenge social and cultural norms as they relate to Black women, Black mothers, and single Black mothers.”
“Those are three constructs that I hold with fragility. I don’t by any stretch think that I am singular in my ability to take on this work. But I do see myself as positioned well to challenge how those things are seen and how they will be seen going forward,” said Williams to the publication.
Eboni K. Williams Discussed Her Decision to Undergo IVF
Williams discussed her decision to undergo IVF to conceive in a June 2024 interview with People magazine. She said that her IVF journey was not easy but well worth it.
“Anybody who’s gone through IVF or attempted IVF will tell you so many things have to go right for the final result of this journey to be a baby,” said Williams to the publication. “That’s why I’ve called this ‘my remarkable miracle,’ because it really does feel like I’ve been the recipient of some very enormous favor from God above.”
Eboni K. Williams Introduced Her Fans to Her Daughter on Instagram
Williams introduced her fans to her newborn daughter in a September 2024 Instagram upload. In the caption of the post, Williams said she is “changed” since her daughter’s birth.
“I’m responsible for ensuring her wellbeing and that Liberty enhances the spaces she occupies,” wrote Williams in the post’s caption. “This little girl has been born into significant privilege. Thus, she holds significant responsibility.”
Several fans flocked to the post’s comments section to congratulate the former Bravo star.
