Hailey Pinto is one of the newer stars on Home and Away.

She joined the popular soap last year to portray Abigail Fowler, the youngest of the Fowler siblings.

In real life, the actress has been very open about her health struggles with a painful condition.

Early life

Hailey, who is 24 years old, grew up in Redlands, a small city in South East Queensland. However, she was born in Switzerland while her parents were living there for a year.

The actress’ mother is Swiss, while her father is Portuguese. She also has a younger sister.

Hailey’s love for acting began when she would put on plays to fundraise to go abroad for competitive jump roping competitions.

Career

During the Covid-19 pandemic, Hailey completed drama classes and acting school.

Hailey’s biggest role to date is playing Abigail Fowler in Home and Away. She joined the popular Australian soap in 2024.

She also portrayed Jane in a 2024 short called Platonic Phantom.

Looking ahead, she explained that she wants to start working in film, especially in the fantasy genre.

Health

Hailey has been open about her struggle with hypermobility, which means that your joints can move beyond the normal range of motion.

Opening up about how it has affected her, she told The Post: “I have hypermobility, so my joints are really weak and, growing up, I would dislocate everything. I just kind of fall apart all the time and just have a few issues with my body in that way. So for me, the only reason I can really do all the things that I do – like Muay Thai – is because I keep my body and my muscles really strong.

“I was in a wheelchair for a bit, because I had a spinal injury, so I just need to really stay fit and healthy.”

Hailey loves reading and shared that she would love to portray Violet Sorrenghail in the TV adaption of Fourth Wing. The character is known for having health issues, with the author Rebecca Yarros modelling her condition after hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (hEDS), with symptoms ranging from joint hypermobility, chronic pain and more.

The Home and Away star shared: “I would love to play Violet Sorrenghail. I identify so much with her and her character is really important to me, because she deals with a lot of physical disabilities and I have a similar struggle that I’ve had to deal with. So it was a book that I found I could really connect to.”
