Shocking news: Home And Away star Kirsty Marillier goes public with her girlfriend over Christmas

Home And Away’s latest arrival Rose Delaney is already making a name for herself in Summer Bay with actress Kirsty Marillier no stranger to fame or the golden sands of the Bay

Home And Away fans have been enjoying the presence of latest arrival to Summer Bay, Rose Delaney, for a few weeks now.

The pretty police officer – played by Kirsty Marillier – is the sister of fellow newcomer Xander Delaney, who is brought to life by former Summer Bay regular and Hollywood star Chris Hemsworth’s cousin Luke Van Os, and current character Jasmine Delaney.

Kirsty, 32, has made her way to the Bay after carving out her acting career with some enviable roles over the years as she prepared for her stint in soapland.

The South African born star is now frequenting screens as Rose but she has applied her skills to different avenues over the years.

Kirsty isn’t just a force to be reckoned with in the acting department, she’s also an award-winning playwright with two of her own works from the Emerging Writers Group at the Sydney Theatre Company currently in production.

Her debut effort, Orange Thrower, will get its stage debut in 2022 thanks to the combined resources of the Griffin Theatre Company and the National Theatre Of Paramatta.

Kirsty had huge success appearing in the theatre adaptation of Harry Potter and The Cursed Child at Sydney’s Griffin Theatre.

She previously admitted that taking the part helped her work on her own scripts for her upcoming productions.

She said: “A large chunk of writing time took place in my dressing room while playing understudy roles in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child over in Melbourne.

“The stability of this job meant I was able to write without stress, without time constraints or deadlines. I could just write freely – often hunched over my laptop, dressed as a Hufflepuff, mouthing the lines of my new, baby characters.”

Kirsty has also starred in theatre productions of Home, I’m Darling and The Cherry Orchard in Sydney.

LGBTQ movie roles

Kirsty starred in LGBTQ award-winning Australian feature film The Greenhouse, which was written and directed by Thomas Wilson-White.

The flick has now been added to Netflix to coincide with Mardi Gras 2022 and has received rave reviews at numerous film festivals globally.

The mainly autobiographical flick documents Wilson-White’s adolescence, highlighting his experience of growing up with two Mums in regional Australia and the family life and experiences that made him who he is today.

Kirsty has already made a previous appearance on the show before joining as a regular cast member. Back in 2018, she starred briefly as Rhea, who was Dempsey Blackwood’s friend and Hunter King’s date for Brody Morgan and Ziggy Astoni’s wedding.

Her re-casting as Rose was announced in November 2021 and at the time she couldn’t hold back her excitement for getting stuck in with the part.

Announcing the news via Instagram she said: “Can finally come clean about this hot piece of news I’ve been harbouring for the last 2 months. Ecstatic to announce I’ve been welcomed as a series reg on Home and Away. Woah.

“Getting to be a part of this Aus icon-of-a-show is a bit wild. It’s been a gorg 6 weeks of shooting as I embrace the bay as new resident brown girl, Rose.”
