Shocking: Teddi Mellencamp confirms she has terminal cancer, heartbreaking

“For the last several weeks I’ve been dealing with severe and debilitating headaches. Yesterday the pain was unbearable and required hospitalization. After a CT scan and MRI, doctors found multiple tumors on my brain, which they believe have been growing for at least 6 months,” she wrote on Instagram on Wednesday. “Two of the tumors will be surgically removed today – The remaining smaller tumors will be dealt with via radiation at a later date.”

She added, “I am blessed to be surrounded by my children, family, friends, doctors, nurses and surgeons who are doing everything possible to get me back into better health. Thank you to everybody who has reached out, and to everyone who has supported me along this journey.”

Prior to sharing the news, Teddi had posted a couple of updates to her Instagram Stories in which she more vaguely addressed the issue. “Hopefully will be on mend soon,” she wrote earlier this week, later adding on Wednesday in a separate Instagram Stories post, “Counting down the minutes until my babies get here. As my dad said this am, god only gives hard stuff to those of us who can handle it. It’s a hard day but I have faith and amazing surgeons and know everything will be ok.”

Teddi Mellencamp Arroyave shares an update on skin cancer journey

Previously, Teddi revealed she had been diagnosed with skin cancer in March 2022. Earlier this month, she shared a message about the importance of early detection.

“It’s World Cancer Day so I’d like to remind you to get your skin checks scheduled. If this is your first time seeing this, I recently shared my full melanoma journey on [Him and her podcast]. Give it a listen when you have a chance. If it’s not your first time, I hope it’s a good reminder,” she wrote. “Who’s making their appointment today? Melanoma awareness. Cure melanoma.”

She has been open about the ups and downs she’s faced in the wake of the melanoma diagnosis.

“I have big highs and lows depending on what’s going on with my surgeries and whatnot,” she told E! News last year. “And then also having those days where I say, ‘I’m just going to let myself crash today. I have these three hours to myself, I’m going to let myself have a little cry, feel these emotions.’ Then it’s easier to process than when you pretend that everything’s perfect all the time.”
