Real Housewives

The Real Housewives: All were tragic deaths, the stars of Dublin Wives passed away one after another without clear cause, the reason haunting the readers.

Ireland’s answer to The Real Housewives franchise might have been a flash in the pan but our ladies still managed to serve up enough drama to leave their American counterparts in the shade while throwing plenty of shade at each other.

Dublin Wives ran for one season in 2012 and starred Virgina Macari, Roz Flanagan, Danielle Meagher, Jo Jordan and Lisa Murphy.

Despite the short run, the TV3 show served up everything from shocking revelations, to deliciously b****y takedowns, but also heartful moments of genuine friendship, who could forget Jo confiding in Lisa about her concern at finding a lump in her breast?

Tragically, it was Lisa who would lose her fight with cancer in 2024 but she remained positive to the end, saying in 2017: ‘I don’t have any regrets. I had successful relationships. I don’t regret any of that. And you can’t change the past, anyway. So, what’s the point? And I would be a very positive person. So, I don’t look back and regret.’

With that in mind here’s a look back at what became of the ladies once the show ended:

Virginia Macari

As the daughter of the Macari chipper chain, Irish/Italian Virginia was already a social butterfly prior to joining the show.

In the years since she has turned her hand to designing swimwear but more recently has stepped into the sustainability sphere, swapping designer bags for TukTuk rides in Delhi with her fiancé Peter Smurfitt.

The pair revealed their engagement in August 2023 after first crossing paths in Monaco. Peter has stepped back from a future at the family business to set up a company that aims to ‘heal the world’ through innovation and empowering others.

His mission statement reads: ‘We travel the world creatively searching for ideas, innovations, and ways to heal the world, always striving for empowering and sustainable progress.’

In 2024 Virginia opened up about receiving a life-threatening health diagnosis after a frantic dash to the hospital after she collapsed in agonising pain.

She was diagnosed with Conas AVM a condition where a cluster of blood vessels forms on or near the spine causing irregular connections between the arteries and veins that can cause permanent damage to the spinal cord. In her case the AVM had burst sending blood to her brain and spine and she says it’s a ‘miracle,’ she survived.

It was also incredibly lucky that the hospital where Peter had taken her specialised in treating AVM and they were able to recognise what was wrong immediately.

In 2025 she underwent spinal cord surgery with ‘the most incredible neurological team’ and was even worked on by two robots.

‘They saved my life. It was filmed and recorded to teach the medical academics of the future, as it is such a rare case… time to heal and get back to living normally.

Roz Flanagan

Armagh-born Roz Flanagan was also no stranger to the Capital’s social scene when Dublin Wives launched. She first met her husband Vincent at 16 and they tied the knot at 20 and have been going strong ever since.

Roz became known for her love of flashing the cash and her 50th birthday celebrations were a bacchanalian affair complete with spraying €500 bottles of champagne in Marbella. For all her frivolity, Roz has also long been a champion of charitable work and has worked tirelessly to support the CARI foundation which provides counselling services to children and their families.

She famously revealed on the show that her motivation for joining the show was triggered in part by the abuse she says she was subjected to as a child.

These days Roz has also become a doting but still very glam granny thanks to her three daughters Melissa, Vicky and Stephanie with her fifth grandchild arriving in 2023. In November of the same year, she and her other half Vincent reportedly sold off their cold storage firm for a pretty penny.

Danielle Marr Collins (Meagher)

Danielle was the Dublin Wife who seemed destined to stay in the spotlight. Having named the nickname ‘Dr. Botox ‘ as an early pioneer of derma fillers in Ireland, Danielle went on to appear in Celebrity Big Brother in 2012.

After being the first to be voted out she moved to the States to pursue an acting career and has lived across the pond ever since. These days she goes by the name Marr Collins and has regular stand-up comedy sets around LA, performing for people like Quentin Tarantino in places like the Comedy Store on Sunset Boulevard.

She also told EVOKE recently that she’s in the running for The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, after producers saw Dublin Wives and were highly entertained.

But Danielle is staying true to her (unmoveable) roots. Danielle launched a Botox in a Tube product and kickstarted the ‘Diary of a Botox b***h’ podcast.

Despite living in America these days, she still has clinics in Ireland and the UK and counts members of the royal family of Monaco among her clients.

Lisa Murphy

Lisa Murphy was the typical Dublin blonde who was all heart. Prior to appearing in Dublin Wives, she was famously engaged to Michael Flately before going on to date Gerald Kean.

They called it quits in 2016 and Lisa turned her hand to fitness. In February 2024 it was revealed that she had lost her fight with cancer.

Since her death, Lisa’s loved ones have been remembering the girl they called ‘a true lady’. Her ex fiancé Joe Egan, whom she was with in the 1990s, said Lisa was ‘one of the kindest people you could ever meet.’ Her other ex Michael Flatley said she was ‘a lovely, caring person’.

Indeed, Lisa was unbelievably loyal to everyone around her- she never let it be known exactly why any of her engagements ended.

Jo Jordan

The self-made entrepreneur Jo Jordan, who starred in the hit TV3 show Dublin Wives, died at age 51in her home in Castleknock, Dublin.

Her sister Michelle confirmed the news to EVOKE saying ‘Yes it is true unfortunately, 51 is way too young to die. The family were still being notified before it was public’. She added the cause of death was ‘private until we can confirm.’

Over the years Jo had suffered with her health and in 2016 she had a heart attack at the age of 42.  A few years later she lost in her beloved mum Linda.

Unlike Lisa, Jo had plenty of regrets about joining the show, saying several years on that she gave away too much.

‘Everywhere I go, people talk to me about Dublin Wives. It’s left me not trusting anyone. I regret that I giving away so much about myself. Dublin Wives was all fake t**ts and big dresses. It was all complete and total b****x,’; she told The Sun.
