Teddi Mellencamp’s estranged husband, Edwin Arroyave, and their children visited her shortly before she underwent emergency surgery. Doctors had discovered multiple tumors on her brain.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star, 43, and Arroyave, 47, announced their split in November 2023 after 13 years of marriage. They share three children: Slate (12), Cruz (10), and Dove (4).
Despite their ongoing divorce, the couple appears to be on good terms. On Wednesday, Mellencamp shared a devastating health update on Instagram. She revealed that doctors found “multiple” tumors on her brain after her long battle with skin cancer.
Emergency Surgery & Family’s Presence
Before undergoing emergency surgery to remove two larger tumors, Teddi was visited by loved ones and close friends.
Edwin rushed to the hospital to be by her side, and their children comforted their mother before the procedure.
In a heartfelt Instagram post, Edwin shared a photo standing next to Teddi, who was resting in a hospital bed. She gently placed her hand on the back of his neck as he laid his hand on her shoulder.
Edwin’s Emotional Message & Support for Teddi
In the caption, Edwin wrote a Bible verse:
“Jeremiah 17:14: Heal me, O Lord, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved, for you are my praise.”
He continued with a prayer for Teddi:
“Lord, I lift up @teddimellencamp to You. You are the Great Healer, and I ask for Your healing touch upon her body. Restore her strength, renew her spirit, and let her feel Your comforting presence. Grant her peace, hope, and full recovery. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
Dove’s Innocent Concern for Her Mom
Edwin also shared a short video featuring their youngest daughter, Dove. In the clip, Dove asks, “Dad, are you gonna stay here?”
Edwin responds, “Yeah, this is my bed. This is where I sleep.”
The camera then pans to show him sitting on a couch. Dove asks again, “Are you gonna watch Mama? Because she doesn’t like staying alone.”
“Yeah, we’re watching Mama,” Edwin replies, turning the camera to show Teddi in her hospital bed, surrounded by their other children and close friends.
Dove then curiously asks, “Is she gonna wake up and watch TV?”
Edwin reassures her, “Yeah, she’s going to watch TV.”
Edwin & Teddi’s Past Relationship
Teddi and Edwin tied the knot in 2011. However, in November 2023, the reality star announced their shocking divorce after 13 years of marriage.
Shortly after, rumors surfaced that Teddi had an affair with her horse trainer, Simon Schroeder.
The Real Housewives alum later responded with a cryptic Instagram caption alongside a glamorous selfie:
“When you’re being pushed into the shadows, always find your light.”
Years of Struggles in Their Marriage
A source told Us Weekly that Teddi and Edwin had been in couples therapy “for years” before their separation.
On The Skinny Confidential podcast, Mellencamp reflected on their relationship, admitting:
“Me and Edwin had amazing years together. When we met, it was passionate and exciting. But then, there would be somebody else.”
She continued, “I kept thinking, ‘It’s okay, I’ll work through it. I’ll make him love me more!’ But then we had kids, and things changed.”
Teddi admitted that Edwin eventually wanted to fix their marriage, but by then, she had emotionally checked out.
“I think I had resentment, animosity, or fear of ever being open again. So, I just closed off.”

Following her health update, her close friend and podcast co-host, Tamra Judge, shared a heartfelt message on X:

During the latest episode of their Two T’s in a Pod podcast, Judge tearfully explained that Teddi would take a “brief sabbatical” to focus on her health.
“You all know how much she loves this podcast, and she wants us to continue recording while she focuses on getting better.”
Teddi’s Cancer Battle & Hospitalization
On Wednesday, Teddi revealed on Instagram that she had been experiencing severe headaches for weeks.
“For the last several weeks, I’ve been dealing with severe and debilitating headaches. Yesterday, the pain became unbearable, and I was hospitalized.”
Doctors performed a CT scan and MRI, which revealed multiple tumors on her brain. They believe the tumors had been growing for at least six months.
Two of the tumors were scheduled for immediate removal, while the remaining smaller ones would be treated with radiation.
Teddi’s Strength & Family’s Encouragement
Despite the devastating news, Teddi expressed gratitude for her support system.
“I am blessed to be surrounded by my children, family, friends, doctors, nurses, and surgeons who are doing everything possible to help me heal.”
She thanked everyone who reached out and supported her.
In another image, Teddi lay in a hospital bed, writing:
“Counting down the minutes until my babies get here.”
Her father offered words of encouragement, telling her:
“God only gives hard stuff to those who can handle it. It’s a hard day, but I have faith and amazing surgeons. I know everything will be okay.”
Teddi Shaves Her Head Before Surgery
Before her operation, Teddi allowed a friend to shave her head. She humorously captioned the moment:
“All I need now is an umbrella.”
A video on her Instagram stories showed her hospital room filled with loved ones, including Real Housewives star Kyle Richards, musician Morgan Wade, and her ex-husband Edwin Arroyave.
Teddi’s Past Battle with Melanoma
Back in 2022, Teddi revealed that she had been diagnosed with stage II melanoma, the most dangerous form of skin cancer.
She kept her fans updated throughout her journey, undergoing a total of sixteen procedures to treat the disease.
Now, as she faces another major health battle, she continues to receive love and support from her family, friends, and fans.
